Forklift Safety: How Does Accu-Fork Fit In?

Forklift accidents are likely to have very serious consequences. In fact, of the 34,000 forklift related injuries that occur each year, there are 80 fatalities and 2,000 serious injuries connected to improper forklift operation.  According to OSHA, 70% of these could be preventedby adequate operator training.

Because forklifts are dangerous, OSHA has applied a lengthy standard that specifies rules for safe operation. First and foremost, forklifts should be used only by trained, qualified operators.

Accu-Fork is not a substitute for the training that is required, but it is extremely useful as a loss control and safety device.  Accu-Fork ensures the precision and efficiency of the operator and in doing so provides added safety for other employees who work around forklifts.

While there are many excellent safety accessories for forklifts available today, Accu-Fork has the distinction of being the only pro-active loss prevention device. Other devices focus on what happens after the accident, ie, turn the forklift off or record the last drivers information. These are reactive devices.

While we support the use of these devices in certain environments, they do nothing to effect the core problem: Driver inaccuracy.

Reactive devices won't make your forklift operators better operators and you'll still incur all the costs of all accidents and product damage that occurs during any loss incident...

How much have you spent in damaged product, pallet racks, doors, warehouse roofing and equipment?

Accu-Fork provides you a handle on loss control where it counts!

...With Your FORKLIFT OPERATORS!

Accu-Fork helps your operators become more accurate and efficient at the same time

"Profit" is the ultimate goal of any business enterprise.  It's the motivation for the establishment and perpetuation of a business.

Many factors can have an impact on the profitability of your company:

  • cost of your products
  • prevailing market conditions
  • business overhead
  • theft
  • and employee turnover, just to name a few.

However, one often overlooked factor is the impact of accidents on the profitability of a business.

When you think about production, productivity, and product quality, "safety" doesn't fit in. It's not a business term.

Managers understand the value of production, productivity, and quality in turning a profit. However, they usually view "safety" as a necessary cost of doing business, and not an effort that pays financial dividends.

Louis Allen, the author of "The Management Profession", says that "Minimizing loss is as much improvement as maximizing of profit."
